OBOJENI PROGRAM
History
OBOJENI PROGRAM (COLOURED PROGRAM - later in text O. P.) was
formed in early eighties in Novi Sad (capital of Vojvodina, northern region
of Serbia & Montenegro) by a group of young people which were instantly
and strongly infected with contagious energy of punk movement, and was, later,
also influenced by music of new wave bands such as The Fall, Television, Magazine,
Gang of Four, Joy Division etc. The great force of that specific inheritance
was all together probably the main reason why O. P. had always been very openly
confronted with all kinds of repressive and regressive ideologies widely grown
in this country.
From the early beginning this band was trying to create and
keep authentic and original sound and to represent a different way of life and
thinking from that one, which was, unfortunately, mostly accepted. Working together
with few other important music bands like Boye, Luna, La Strada, Grad, and several
other artists, O. P. took a vital role in establishing leading alternative artistic
scene in Novi Sad.
First record "Najvaznije je biti zdrav" (Most important
is to be healthy) came in 1990 for first independent record label in YU "Search
and Enjoy" after almost decade of live playing (firstly O. P. was against
publishing) in and out of ex-Yugoslavia borders.
In spite of hard political situation in Yugoslavia throughout next 15 years
O. P. succeeded to publish and promote 5 more LP’s + 1 live album, trying
to keep up the pace with best in alternative music, as much as technically was
possible in this part of Europe.
O. P. was the first Yugoslavian band to appear on MTV's "120
minutes" in 1993, and also the only one to be represented by John Peel
and whose music have been broadcasted on his radio show and have been on his
track listing in 2002. In 2003 O. P. was supporting act for UK band Placebo
on their Belgrade concert.
7th , newest album was recorded in Netherlands in analog studio
"Sing Sing" in Spring of 2004 and is to be released in July 2005.
This new album contains 7 tracks made by O. P, recorded in "Sing Sing"
and mastered in Novi Sad, 8 digital remixes of that tracks made by different
DJ’s, and one bonus track, "Obecaj mi, molim te" ("Promise
me, please") - a single which followed promotion of Kebra’s book.
During these 20 years of O. P. existence, its members were
changing. The only one who's left from original line-up is Kebra - lead vocal
and writer of sometimes emotionally colored, sometimes politically, socially
or culturally engaged lyrics. His high-pitched voice and typical way of singing
became a trademark of this band.

OBOJENI PROGRAM je osnovan pocetkom osamdesetih godina u Novom
Sadu od strane nekoliko mladih ljudi koji su svoj zivotni i muzicki izraz definitivno
prepoznali u zaraznoj energiji panka i muzici new wave bendova tipa The Fall,
Television, Magazine, Gang of Four, Joy Division... formirajuci tadasnju novosadsku
new wave scenu zajedno sa grupama Boye, La Strada, Luna i Grad.
Od samog pocetka O. P. je insistirao na pronalazenju svog autenticnog,
nezavisnog zvuka, te je prva ploca "Najvaznije je biti zdrav" izasla
tek 1990. godine, nakon 10-tak godina postojanja grupe, ali za prvu nezavisnu
ex-YU izdavacku kucu iz Zagreba - "Search&Enjoy".
Uprkos teskim uslovima za opstanak jedne alternativne muzicke
grupe, u narednim godinama, O. P. je uspeo da objavi i promovise jos 6 albuma,
trudeci se da ide u korak sa najboljima na svetskoj sub-pop sceni koliko god
je to tehnicki bilo ostvarljivo.
O. P. je tokom vise od dvadeset godina postojanja imao na stotine
samostalnih koncerata i nastupa na muzickim festivalima, i saradjivao je sa
raznim umetnicima i umetnickim grupama iz oblasti pozorista, filma, stripa,
knjizevnosti... 2004. godine singl sa najnovijeg albuma "Da li je to covek
ili je masina" pojavljuje se kao soundtrack za film "Zurka",
reditelja Aleksandra Davica.
O. P. je prvi bend sa ovih prostora koji se pojavio na MTV-u
u emisiji "120 minutes" - 1993. godine - i jedini koji je imao cast
da bude prezentiran od strane John Peela u njegovim radio emisijama (na BBC
Radio) i na njegovoj playlist 2002 . godine. 2003. godine bend se pojavio kao
predgrupa britanskom bendu Placebo na njihovom beogradskom koncertu.
Sedmi studijski album je snimljen u Holandiji u analognom studiju
"Sing Sing", u prolece 2004. godine, a objavljen je 01. jula 2005.
godine za izdavacku kucu URBANS. Na novom albumu "Da li je to covek ili
je masina” nalazi se sedam novih pesama O. P-a, osam remixa tih pesama napravljenih
od strane razlicitih DJ-eva i jedna bonus pesma - "Obecaj mi, molim te",
koja je pratila promociju Kebrine poslednje knjige istog naziva i koja je deo
zavere "Transbalkanske dezorganizacije".
Proteklih godina kroz bend je proslo na desetine razlicitih
muzicara. Jedini clan iz originalne postave benda je Kebra - glavni vokal i
autor ponekad emotivno obojenih, ponekad politicki angazovanih minimalistickih
tekstova. Njegov glas i tipican nacin pevanja postali su u velikoj meri zastitni
znak ovog benda.
