The Joe Coyle Band
Press Release
Glasgow born Joe Coyle is set to release a new album in Bosnia with his high
energy rock band, "The Joe Coyle Band". The Three Piece group line
up is: Joe Coyle (vocals and bass guitars), Brian Hillson from Manchester
(guitars and vocals) and local Banja Luka Boy, Nebojša Stupar (drums).
All of the material was, recorded in the former Yugoslavia town of Banja
Luka (Bosnia Herzegovina). The album is a collection of pumping rock and rock
ballads, driven by Guitar man Hillson's mesmerizing riffs, Joe's thundering
Bass and Gelled together with Nebojša Stupar's rhythmic beats.
The album manages to capture the bands sense of humor and manic live energy
and put it on a CD. The collection of songs also features the bands Controversial
high power arrangement of the Irish traditional classic "Fields of Athenrye".
"One half of Glasgow will be happy to buy the album for this song alone"
- "The other half will want to burn it and the band", said Joe when
interviewed by a Reporter from the Glas Serpski newspaper. "A Scotsman,
an Englishman, and a Serb covering an Irish song how weird is that",
said Brian on the same interview.
The album, more importantly features the bands contentious collaboration
with the Balkans living Serbian legend Bora Đorđević, frontman of the rock
group Riblja Čorba to re-work his mega hit "Amsterdam" which originally
had Eddy Grant dueting with Đorđević on the original recording. "Working
with Đorđević was the equivalent of working with the likes of Paul Rodgers,
or Ian Gillan - that's the influence of the man in the Balkans", said
Joe.
All of the songs on the album have been co-written by Joe and Brian with
the exception of "The Fields of Athenrye" (Traditional), and "Amsterdam"
which was written by Bora Đorđević.
The band had hoped to finish recording the album in October 2006, however
with the late collaboration with Đorđević it will be around the middle of
November 2006. They plan to tour Bosnia promoting the work on completion.
The Management Team, hope secure a deal for the band with a record company
in the Balkans who have been showing more than a passing interest to snap
up the band. The Band is also looking to attract interest from major European
labels.

Note to editors
The first CD Joe recorded in Bosnia was a solo album of ideas where Joe hired
the services of many talented Bosnian Session musicians to put his first CD
together, and subsequently played selected live dates as "Joe Coyle and
the War Criminals" to bemused audiences.
However following the interest that the "Christmas in Baghdad"
CD generated he needed to put a steady working band together and the new CD
is the result of him doing just that.
The Joe Coyle Band are exclusively managed in the Balkans by Želco Music
Management, Banja Luka.
Joe has been in the Balkans since 1996 and at 51 exudes more energy than
kids half his age on stage during the bands two hour high voltage set to his
army of growing fans.
The Joe Coyle Band has, and is performing live all around Bosnia from Sarajevo
to Brčko. They have also appeared numerous times on Bosnian Television since
they formed in December last (2005) year.
They Just missed out on a spot at the Exit Festival in Novi Sad Serbia this
year. They hope however to be there next year.
Joe says "I don't need to rush into anything with record companies we
have a great band with good songs, and with an ever growing following of loyal
fans, so the record company who knows the business in Europe will come and
get us with the right deal. And anyhow I don't need the money I'm just having
fun".
"You know, it's strange the way things pan out I gave up playing and
singing years ago and here I am now in Bosnia and Herzegovina with two CD’s
recorded", said Joe.
