Dejan Nikolić
P r e s e n t a t i o n
Dejan Nikolic is rock / blues / metal musician from Belgrade, Serbia.
Dejan Nikolic is mostly known as a long time drummer for rock star
guitarist / singer / songwriter and multimedia artist Alexandra Sladjana
Milosevic. He started his musical education at age of 6 playing violin,
later switching to viola, and along the way he developed love for drums
and drumming. In his professional career (15 years by far), he played
with many top Serbian artists in various musical fields. Jazz
saxophonist Ivan Svager, rock guitarist Bata Kostic, heavy-rock
guitarist Borislav Mitic, thrash metal band Rapid Force and Di Luna
Blues Band, just to name a few. He also played with American
guitarist / singer / songwriter Alex Chilton (of The Box Tops and Big Star
fame). He's known for his ability to shift between different music
styles with ease, and playing what is right for the music. Also when
needed, he can blast flashy fills and chops, accompanied with superb
double bass drum skills.
Nikolic is also accomplished drum teacher,
giving private lessons for the last 12 years. He is involved in other
activities as well, through "Ars et Norma Association" where he
is
member and co-founder (www.arsetnorma.com).
Currently, besides projects in Association and playing with Alexandra Sladjana
Milosevic, he's playing with Di
Luna Blues Band - blues / rock band, Don Giovanni & Friends, legendary
hard-rock band "Vatreni Poljubac" and the new project of Milic
Vukasinovic - "Mitch Valiant Band".
He is also involved in some studio
session
work as well and collaborating with a long time friend, jazz / rock bass
player extraordinaire, Vladimir Novicic on a new project. "I like to
play different music. I love music in general, and I went from classical
trained musician, through pop, rock, metal, jazz / rock to jazz, blues,
funk and latin and even disco. I like challenges. I like soloing, fills
and double bass kicks. On the other hand I enjoy simplicity as well.
Every music style has its own rules, so it is really important to play
what is right for the music. I consider myself mainly as heavy-rock
drummer. That's when I feel like at home. Next to that is blues. But I
adore all other styles. Everything is connected, so the more you know
the better. I also love teaching. I am a constant learner myself,
and
I enjoy passing knowledge to younger players and watch them growing."
