Téa Hodžić Trio
Stay Awhile TRCD0005
"Her voice haunted me for the rest of the day", Clive Davies, The Times
Intimate, heartfelt, passionate, this is Balkan music at its best. In this
album Téa explores the songs of her homeland, the former Yugoslavia, and its
bordering countries. Téa says: "I consider most of the songs on the album to
be 'the jewels' of traditional music from my former country." There is also
an original song written by Téa: "Oliver came up with the lyrics in English,
based on my description of the emotions in the tune. We felt that this might
bring the sentiment of the song closer to a non-Balkan audience." Téa is joined
in this trio by long-time collaborators: Oliver Wilson-Dickson on violin (Szapora,
Mabon, The Ian McMillan Orchestra, The Devil's Violin) and Luke Carver Goss
on accordion (also of Szapora & The Ian McMillan Orchestra). Stay Awhile
has been released on Dylan Fowler's small but beautiful label Taith Records.
