Capital Sons are excited for the release of "Dirty
Neon", their
second album to date - and first batch of original material since their self-titled
EP in 2005. Seamleasly blending their musical influences and pop-rock nature
into a high energy, unique and lirically poignant mix, the band has a sound
that is fresh, yet recognizable. Led by Karl Obermeyer, Capital Sons bring
undeniable melodies and heart-felt lyrics to audiences, all anchored by a rock
steady rhythm section. The band members; Obemeye on lead vocals, Jesse Thomas
on drums Cy Dodson on guitar and keyboards, Keef Russell on bass and vocals,
and a recently added Joseph Barker on guitar, keyboards and vocals, have earned
a reputation as an original and expressive band making their mark on the Twin
Cities and beyond.
With the release of their critically - acclaimed self-titled EP, Capital Sons
has had generous airplay on 89,3 The Current FM. Word of mouth has spread and
their live performances routinely draw loyal fans into venues throughout the
Twin Cities. Capital Sons recorded their new release with the engineering help
of Peter Anderson (The Honeydogs) at Flower Studio. This once-greenhouse -
turned - recording - studio is now famous for its ecordings of many succesful
local bands inluding The Jayhawks, The Replacements and Golden Smog.
Among the seven original tracks on the album, "About A Girls" and "Nose",
stand out as potent pop-rock hits, with captivating hooks and sincere lyrics.
All in all, each of the songs were a collaborative effort by all members, allowing
for the cohesive sound. Musing about the band's sound, Obermeyer sums up the
Capitol Sons approach to their music. "It can be hard to find that fit...
that's what a band should feel like. And when your firing on all cylinders,
it doesn' t feel like work... it feels like fun."
