Sziget 2010 11-16 Aug 2010, Budapest, Hungary
PRESS INFORMATION -
The Next Batch: Jared Leto, Nina Hagen, Calvin Harris and Many More
More than a dozen international bands have confirmed their
appearance at our favourite festival, Sziget. Some will be entirely new to
Hungarian audiences,
some are legendary names, and there will be quite a few exotic delicacies.
Jared Leto - actor and frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars will be performing,
as well as legendary alt-diva Nina Hagen. Calvin Harris, Yeasayer, Major Lazer,
Charlie Winston, Fear Factory and many others will also be there.
The music video for "The Kill" had 34 million
views on YouTube and the number is rising far faster than the actual probability
of going to
Mars. "I'll Attack" had 3 million views, it has been seen
by about as many people as have seen live the most successful band of the new
age, Thirty Seconds to Mars. This band is the proof that "making a wish" is
working and Thirty Seconds to Mars promises to be one of the most cherished
stars of Sziget. ...
Nina Hagen always gives her all to music, she expels her
creative energies in provocative performances that disturb the peace, and even
close to sixty she still puts on a stage show that no current alt-diva comes
even close to. She released a dozen cult albums and worked with the greatest
German and international musicians, art collectives and eccentric geniuses
and she kept on producing radical music of unwavering quality in the 2000's.
...
Major Lazer's first appearance at Sziget is promising to be
a memorable one, since Major Lazer's "Hold the Line" music
video merited a nomination for the MTV Video Awards last year. ...
By the time
he was 23,
Calvin Harris was already touring with bands like Groove Armada and Faithless.
He released his second album in 2009 titled "Ready for the Weekend",
which went gold and topped the British album charts. NME named Harris' "Dance
with me" recorded with Dizzee Rascall the single of the year in 2009.
Harris, who was chosen Remixer of the Year by The Music Producers Guild, will
not spare his energies on his first Sziget party, which will be a must see
for every festival goer. ...
Strangely, the 32 year old Charlie Winston, who
is responsible for the best indie-folk album of last year, first conquered
not his native Britain but France, where his album "Hobo" went
number one, as did the first single from the album "Like a Hobo".
Winston, who moved from grey Britain to romantic Paris, is currently climbing
the charts with his new single "I Love Your Smile", and as this
year's absolute star of Sziget he promises to bring a smile to the faces
of his thousands of fans. ...
The pride of LA's metal community, The
Fear Factory will also be there. The band continued their tour hell-bent on
destroying the world and rebuilding it with their album "Mechanize" released
in February. In 2010 they passed the 2000th concert mark with their performances
in Australia and New Zealand, and after some R&R at home they will arrive
to Sziget on explosive form. ...
One of the most exceptional bands of the Pitchfork
universe, Yeasayer will be arriving from Brooklyn with mind blowing sound samples
and visuals. The Death Valley Screamers will roll into Sziget 2010: during
its five short years of existence the band that grew out of Eastern-European
motorbike culture powered through the Eurovision Song Contest, shot a music
video on the runways of Boryspil airport in twenty degrees below zero and gave
a concert to 250 000 people in the centre of Kiev on Ukrainian Independence
Day. ...
The enchanting voice of the singer of the Rada & Ternovik band
conjures up images of the Russia of Puskin, Tolsztoj and Dosztojevszkij during
their captivating and large scale concerts, and so too at the Sziget festival.
...
The British Young Punx will be bringing to Sziget a mash-up
party cavalcade made of classic French house, 80’s pop, hard-glam-disco-rock. …
Kamelot,
who is currently working on his new album in Norway, famous for his lyrical
metal-symphonies and fast paced finishes will be riding into Sziget with is
black legion. ...
The California funk collective, Breakestra’s concert
will import the atmosphere of their legendary Root Down club nights to Sziget
festival. ...
"Temporary Pleasure" that outperformed the first,
critically acclaimed Simian Mobile Disco album will be replaced this year with
"Delicatessen & Delicacies",
the release of which is almost as highly anticipated by SMD fans as the first
Sziget concert of one of the most talented mixer duos of the British electronic
music scene.
