Terry Daun
USA
Born on October 29, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas. Terry has been around music
since day one. His mother Helen played the guitar and organ. She also wrote
and sang her own songs in nightclubs in the Phoenix area, during the 1960’s.
As early as 10 years old, Terry started going out with his mother while she
performed with the likes of Waylon Jennings and Marty Robbins.
Terry started with guitar lessons at 8, but gave it up after a year and
a half. At age 11, the hottest sound around was "Wipe Out” by
The Safaris". "A lot of kids got turned on to drums at that time,
and I was one of them", he states. His main influences were; Mitch
Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience), John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), and as Terry
would put
it, the "greatest" rock drummer ever, Ginger Baker (Cream).
Some of the bands Terry has played with over the years are: Moments Notice,
The Penetrators, KATO (a Cream cover band), Attitude Cat, Is Not Is Too,
Manic-N (www.Jynkz.com) and from 2001
to 2003 White Noize. In 1991, Terry started TMD Entertainment, a Karaoke
/ DJ company. To date, Terry has performed
over 3000 shows in the Phoenix metro area, all without missing a single show.
Karaoke has had an impact on Terry. "You can't hear 75 to 80
top 10 hits a night, 6 nights a week, for several years, without being affected".
"Moving from behind a drum set to out front has also had its benefits",
he states.
In December 2000 Terry joined forces with three old friends to
form White
Noize, an original hard rock band in Tempe, Arizona. Terry began as
Lead Vocalist, and soon added percussion and keyboards. "It is very
possible that I wouldn't be where I am today if not for the experiences
I had in White Noize… and I thank John McKibben for that". In
time Terry wrote the lyrics to 8 of the bands 21 songs that can be heard
at www.whitenoize.net . White Noize
broke up in December 2003. By the end of August 2004, Terry had written and
recorded 17 songs on his own in his, "My
Furry Friends Studios". This includes all of the instrumentation, as
well as the backing vocals. "It's funny you know… I did
that whole album on a 10 year old Radio Shack keyboard". Terry is now
using a Korg Triton. It can be heard on the "Get Up!" album,
as well as all future releases. "The Korg Triton is awesome". "In
closing, I would like to thank the great Todd Rundgren for the inspiration
his music has provided me since 1972". Check out: www.trconnection.com .
My mission, goal, desire, aspirations, whatever you want to call it, is
to continue writing and having a blast being an artist. But, in the mean
time, I'm getting ready to begin performing my originals and a few select
R&B covers live in the Phoenix area. From there... we will see. I am
really interested in finding some players out there who would like to perform
my stuff live. Realize, what you may have already heard is only the beginning.
I'm looking for fusion players. If there are any musicians out there interested,
please call me at 480.703.1137 . Thanks again for your time and interest
in what I've got to say. Terry Daun Aug. 2006 .
