Bachman Cummings
Jukebox
Randy and Burton are from an era when boys grew up wanting
to be Elvis, Fats, Ray, Buddy, or Jerry Lee. As they got a little older they
wanted to be John
or George or Paul or Ringo. Or maybe Mick or Eric. All the while Randy and
Burton stayed tuned to the AM radio dial in Winnipeg, and kept plugging
quarters into the local Jukebox , listening to those magical songs that would
inspire them to write their own songs and to dream those wistful dreams
that someday their songs and music would inspire others, as these songs in
spired them. Randy and Burton got their chance and we all know the results:
"American Woman", "Takin' Care of Business", "These Eyes", "Stand Tall",
"You Ain't
Seen Nothin' Yet" and the list goes on and on.
Two of music's most prolific writers now salute their idols.
The "Jukebox" Album is an homage to those great artists who Randy and Burton
learned from
and
idolized. The songs on "Jukebox" are the roots of their beginnings and in it
you hear the very joy of making mus ic together that Randy and Burton have
never lost. Once again, they are those boys playing and singing and dreaming.
The songs take us back to a time of innocence and all of our youths. You hear
Elvis, Fats and Dylan. You hear the power of the music that changed a world.
Randy and Burton made this record for the very same reasons they started making
music all those years ago - they couldn't help themselves. It's what they
do. It's who they are. And once again the talent of Randy and Burton shines
through as they bring to each of these classic songs an interpretation that
would bring a smile to the faces of the original artists and will surely bring
a smile to everyone listening to the Bachman Cummings "Jukebox" album.
The "Jukebox" symbolizes an era of community club dances, high school gym
dances and the Sock Hop. The concept of the Bachman Cummings "Jukebox" album
will recreate
that era in all its glory: the clothes, the dances and the music. It will introduce
younger audiences to music they may not know, but which will undoubtedly have
the same affect on them that it had on a Randy and Burton those many yea rs
ago.
