The Ugly Buggy Boys is roots music / comedy / electro acoustic band
from Belgium. They are three. They draw their inspiration from the soft whirr
of Massey Ferguson in calmer times. They spread joy and good feeling as they
go. They are The
Ugly Buggy Boys: Nick on drums, Averell on guitar and vocals, Holly on
double bass. Their music? It isn't Reggae, it isn't Ska. It isn't Twist or
Disco.
It's certainly not Techno. What then do these merry minstrels play? Their sound
isn't really Country. It isn't really Swing or Hillbilly. Neither is it Rockabilly
or Ragtime, but it's close to all of these.
The UGLY BUGGY BOYS play the Hard
Rock of the 20's, or possibly the Western Swing of tomorrow. But let's leave
the purists with their sterile debates, which we need consider no longer. Belgium
rocks with The Ugly Buggy Boys - a first-rate Boy Band. The Ugly Buggy Boys
bring a freshness to their Rock 'n' Roll. Their mongrel style of music is wild
and reckless, uplifting, warped, timeless, spontaneous and FUN. Their electroacoustic
formula is far away from modern production techniques and is so much better
for it. Their compositions emerge as a subtle blend of the best of Swing, Hillbilly,
Country Blues and Boogy. That nothing should be taken at face value is reflected
in the cover of their Album.
The band was born on the evening of Halloween,
2000. Some 70 insane concerts and a CD of 6 titles later, they have invested
all the corn put aside in the production of "Yoddle Hey Hee Hoo",
distributed by Bang! March 2003. During 3 years, the band is playing all around
Europe & some places like D-Day, Amsterdam; Rhythm riot, England; Blues
Passion, Cognac; Euritmix, Brussels... 2006, year of the second album "Aloha",
2007 Shana, the little ugly buggy baby girl is coming, 2008 the band is back
on the
road again to have a
lot of funny stories...
The Ugly Buggy Boys features: Averell "T. C." Mac
Ronald (guitars & lead
vocal), Nick "the stick" O' Sand (drums & vocals), Holly
Dee Dice Dalton (double bass & vocals).
